Traveled to Raleigh, NC this past weekend and of course I was on a mission to find some GREAT North Carolina style BBQ. I did a little research beforehand and resorted to my foodie love Adam Richman of Man v. Food and he suggested The Pit. Apparantly the pit master has also won a Ribs Throwdown against Bobby Flay! Did I mention...I met the pit master, Ed Mitchell?
Biscuits & Hush Puppies -- the puppies were not too greasy and full of flavor, very similar to the ones at my favorite restaurant in NC, Owens'. Might have eaten a flaky biscuit or two also!
Oktoberfest Beer Flight -- (4) 5 oz. oktoberfest beers from Stoudt's - PA, Carolina Brewing Company - NC, Highland Brewing - NC, and Avery Brewing Co - CO. I enjoyed all of them and they really tasted alot different from one to the other.
Pulled Pork -- Amazing pulled pork shoulder which is served with an NC style vinegar based bbq sauce which I slobber just thinking about. They also had a tomato based vinegar sauce. I chose mac and cheese and slaw as my sides and was not disappointed.
Distrito

I recently had the pleasure of dinning at Distrito. Overall, the meal and
experience were very good! I would say Distrito is similar to El Vez—trendy
Mexi...
